Alysha Brilla

2014, 2015 and 2018 Juno Nominee and U.K Songwriting Contest winner Alysha Brilla is a critically acclaimed singer, songwriter and producer. She is Tanzanian-Canadian of the Indian diaspora.

Barra Macneils

As a group, the six MacNeil siblings are widely regarded as one of the greatest live concert acts in the Celtic world. Hailing from Sydney Mines, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, the family group is deeply rooted in Celtic music, culture, dance, language and history.

The Contenders

Valdy’s been a significant part of Canada’s folk scene for as long as most people can remember, and a wider audience still remembers him for “Play Me a Rock and Roll Song,” still a staple of classic rock radio.

Gary Fjellgaard

In 2005 this Juno Award winner was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame. Gary still tours extensively and looks back on a rewarding career and gratefully acknowledges the hundreds of town and cities and thousands of listeners who have been touched by his music.

Heather Rankin

Heather Rankin was born in the picturesque village of Mabou, Cape Breton, the eleventh of Buddy and Kaye Rankin’s twelve children. Mabou is rich in Gaelic culture and tradition; a place where Celtic music and dance is tightly interwoven in the lives of its community.

Johannes’ songs have been used in some of the most popular TV shows, such as Californication with David Duchovny, The Following with Kevin Bacon, Burn Notice, Gene Simmons Family Jewels, Pawn Stars, Person of Interest, and others.

Susan Aglukark

Susan Aglukark is one of Canada’s most unique and most honored artists. An Inuk from Arviat, Nunavut, Susan has been walking in a tension between two worlds, a defining note in her remarkable career.

T. Buckley

Over his 10 year career Buckley has fronted the beloved T. Buckley Trio, released four albums, topped radio charts, sold out shows across western Canada, held down a 4-year weekly residency at one of Calgary’s best live music venues, and been recognized in songwriting competitions, most recently Kerrville International Songwriters Competition in Texas.

Valdy

Valdy, born Valdemar Horsdal in Ottawa, Canada has been part of the fabric of Canadian pop and folk music for almost 40 years. A man with a thousand friends, from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island to Texas to New Zealand, he’s a singer, guitarist and songwriter who catches the small but telling moments that make up life.

Crowbar

Best known for their 1971 hit, “Oh, What a Feeling,” which earned an induction into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2011, these rockers are known for their high-energy sound that never fails to fill the dance floor.

Harlequin

Harlequin was originally formed in the mid-seventies. After several demos and trips to Toronto, Harlequin was finally discovered playing in a tiny bar in Toronto by representatives of Jack Douglas, legendary producer of Aerosmith, Patti Smith and John Lennon.

The band, formed in 1974 in Kitchener, Ontario, has sold over 2,000,000 albums, had four gold and 2 platinum albums, has had a Number One record in the country of Sweden, has toured 19 countries, 3 continents, and played with over 150 of the greatest rock and roll recording acts in the world.

Hotel California

With over 25 years of international touring experience under their belts, Hotel California is the longest running Eagles tribute show in North America. They have shared the stage with such headliners as The Doobie Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Gretchen Wilson and many more International Artists.

Killer Dwarfs

The KiLLeR DWaRFs were formed in the fall of 1981 from the ashes of vocalist Russ “Dwarf” Graham and drummer Darrell “Dwarf” Millar’s club bands in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Lee Aaron

This legendary rock diva started out singing jazz and Broadway standards in musical theatre in the Toronto suburbs, hanging out in music class after school, practicing and picking the brains of her instructors.

Prism

They’ve sold millions of albums, with songs that have become radio standards – Spaceship Superstar, Take Me to the Kaptin, Flying, Armageddon, Take Me Away, Young & Restless, Night to Remember, Don’t Let Him Know among them. Prism itself is classic rock.

Rik Emmett

Rik Emmett was a relatively unknown singer/songwriter/guitarist on the local Toronto scene in September of ’75 when he joined a newly-formed hard rock trio called Triumph. By ’79 three albums had gone platinum in Canada and two charted in the States, receiving serious radio airplay.

Strange Advance

Strange Advance was formed in Vancouver in 1979 by Drew Arnott, Darryl Kromm, and Paul Iverson. Emerging in a sea of radio rock and burgeoning music video-aimed pop.  Their albums went gold and landed on the Canadian charts with singles like “We Run” and “Love Becomes Electric.”
